My post will be talking about the citation above. In this article, the students at Simon Fraser University have conducted a study where they go into what makes YouTube and its partners able to flourish (a partner of YouTube is simply someone who is able to monetize their video.) They go into a detailed discussion about how the content dictates who becomes more successful. They discuss how the nature of whether a content creator makes an informational video or an entertaining video will generate more views, and there more more notoriety on the site, and ultimately become pushed by YouTube itself.
I feel this article is important to my piece as it falls into the realm of branding strategies that people have taken to success in the online entertainment world. Where it does fall short is in the diversity of the personalities they have chosen to research, but that is something I can understand as there is an endless amount of content being uploaded. It also does not fall into the live streaming section that I wish to delve into.
The articles below were other sources that I found that may be pertinent to my piece, but I have not decided on, and have included for me to remember.
