I got these screenshots simply by going to the American McDonalds website and then the Egyptian McDonalds website. As you can see the designs are quite different for the websites. The evidentiary value of these primary sources is that they show how for different cultures there are different designs put in place as well. In the American version of McDonalds website there are cultural references and slang (localization) either by saying “Get em’ before they’re gone” or having high school basketball as a part of the page or all the social networks that McDonalds advertises (on the bottom) for its American market. On the Egyptian website the mention of falafel and the pictures of a sunny day in Egypt are clear to see. The menu for the American website runs vertically while the menu for the Egyptian website runs horizontally. There is a reason why McDonalds chose to do this and it has to do with culture and how a user would interact with the design of their website. An American user would have an easier time navigating through the American page and an Egyptian would have an easier time navigating through the Egyptian page. Although language has a part to play, there are symbols and different representations and styles of the design that allow for differences in user recognition with the interface.

A Google n-gram search shows how many times a certain phrase such as search engine optimization has appeared in books. The Google n-gram search shows a huge growth in the usage of the phrase search engine optimization and especially from 1994 to 2012. The evidentiary value of this picture shows that as the growth of the Internet and business usage of Internet has grown people have wanted to learn more about search engine optimization. Since more people wanted to learn more about SEO more books have mentioned it.
