Wikispace is a platform that has been launched in 2005.
The first wiki was launched by Ward Cunningham in 1995. The principle of a wiki is to be a place of collaboration between users. It is by definition an open content.
Wikispace is seen by most people who use these kind of platform as, the best one for classroom use.

This interface is easy to use and fluid once you spend some time on it as to get familiarize with all its aspects. It has simple functions, like pages and post and have only a few possibility to be customize; the different pages always contains a header and a side bar. The color are also changeable and as others website and blog interface you can upload some widget to customize and organize your platform.
However wikispace maintains a sense of harmonization throughout the pages which makes wikispace recognizable from one page to the other.
This is necessary in order to preserve the collective aspect of the website.

In another hand the wikispace interface focus on profile, as it is the first thing popping up when opening your account.
When contacting user, the only possibility to attract the attention of the user you want to reach is to contact the person through his mailbox profile, therefore other people are not able to see the conversation.. which is not the perfect idea as to maintain the group entity of the page.
Also any media and video can be tricky to insert and are definitely not standing out on the page which tend to make the website a bit dull and not as pleasant to work with.
The simple page doesn't allow you to change the font style and editing a text can be quite difficult.

However the interface offers more personalization items than other wiki like, wiki.coworking, which in a way makes this interface more attracting to others.
